О фильме:
Задавшись вопросом о том, как служение богу «отцов» католической церкви соответствует Священному Писанию, простой монах Мартин Лютер, «увидел свет истины». Прибив свои ставшие достоянием истории «95 тезисов» к воротам собора в Виттенберге, он решительно осудил раздачу индульгенций, дававшую немалые доходы в церковную казну, и был объявлен еретиком и богохульником. Удалившись в изгнание, Лютер перевел Священное Писание на немецкий язык, чтобы простой народ смог получить прямой доступ к Слову Божьему. Тем временем, его последователи начали настоящую войну против католической церкви…
